His name is Onno Leusink. He iscurrently doing an international internship at the Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) Makassar.

Onno, his nickname, is a student of Van Hall Larenstein, University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands. He said that he has chosen UMI as the place for his internship for six (6) months.

This is because UMI has a qualified Faculty of Agriculture in supporting the implementation of his internship. In addition, Onno’s supervisor in the Netherlands, AnkoStilma (Van Hall Larenstein University) has also suggested Onno to choose UMI Makassar as his internship institution in Indonesia.

Onno in his interview with Public Relation Division of UMI said he would focus on the cocoa discourses and Indonesian cultures, Cocoa and culture in South Sulawesi to be specific.

“I thank Ibu Ayu for accepting me as her internship student,” he said in the interview at Menara UMI 9th Floor, Monday 9 March 2020.

The rector of UMI, Prof.Dr. H. Basri Modding,M.Si.,stated that he really appreciated the efforts of  KUI to facilitate Onno’s trip from the Netherlandsso that he is now one of UMI’s foreign students.

“With the presence of Onno, the number of foreign students of UMI increases,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr.Ir. Ayu Kartini Paranwansa, MP., the head of UMI International Affairs Office (KUI UMI) as well as Onno’s supervisor in Indonesia, welcomed Onno’sarrival to carry out the internship. “KUI UMI will always look forward to carry out internships for the international students because it is in line with the Minister of Education and Culture’s policy, Kampus Merdeka.” She asserted.
