UMI Officially Runs Virtual Pesantren Ramadan for the Second Time

Makassar, – Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) has run Virtual Pesantren Ramadan starting on Tuesday (13/4/2021) afternoon through a zoom meeting. This event is on air daily from 17.00. p.m. to 17.30 p.m. The only program was copying Pesantren Ramadhan 2020. It was started right on the first day of Ramadan 1442 H.

In the first day the Chairperson of the UMI’s Waqf Foundation advisory board, Prof. Dr. KH. Mansyur Ramly, was assigned to deliver a speech under a topic of ‘Marhaban Ya Ramadhan and Mutual Forgiveness’.

The program was moderated by Dr. M. Ishaq Shamad and Dr. Nurjanna Abna. The participants were lecturers, staff, of UMI and public who were interested.

In his online lecture, Prof. Mansyur Ramli expressed the need to welcome the month of Ramadan by preparing and forgiving one another.

The host, M.Ishaq Shamad, conveyed the Pesantren Ramadan activities presenting distinguished persons from the leadership of the UMI Waqf Foundation, the rector and the vice rectors as well as the leaders of faculties and head of units at UMI.

“This event is designed with a different theme every day, and Q and A session at the end,” he explained.

Ishaq Sgamad said that one of the meanings of Ramadan, is “to burn”, so it is hoped that the month of Ramadan would be able to burn sins and mistakes that have been committed during the past time.

Meanwhile, Host Dr. Nurjannah Abna commented on why Muslims intensely do worship activities of in Ramadhan which is not seen in the other eleven months.

She said that it cannot be separated from the verse of Qoran where Muslim have to fast during the month of Ramadhan in order to reach the degree of piety, as mention in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 183.

“Furthermore, the Prophet Muhammad SAW explained the many benefits can be obtained in the month of Ramadan because it is known as month of blessings, forgiveness, and liberation from hellfire,” said M. Ishaq Shamad.
