Makassar, umi.ac.id – Deputy for Entrepreneurship, Ministry of Cooperatives and UKM Republic of Indonesia Ir. Victoria Br Simanungkalit M.M visited Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI).
Victoria, who was accompanied by the Head of the South Sulawesi Provincial Cooperatives and UMKM Office, Malik Faisal, the Deputy Secretary and the Three Assistant Deputies of entrepreneurship of the Indonesian Ministry of Cooperatives and UKM, was greeted by UMI’s Leaders in the Senate Meeting Room, 9th Floor, UMI Tower, Jalan Urip Sumohardjo, Makassar, Saturday (27/2/2021).
UMI was represented by Vice Rector II of UMI Prof. Dr. Salim Basalamah, S.E, M.Si, Vice Rector III Dr. Nasrullah, M.H, Vice Rector IV Dr. KH. Zain Irwanto, M.A, and vice rector V Prof. Dr. Ir. Hattah Fattah, M.S.
Victoria’s visit was in order to observe the products produced under UMI’s business incubation supervision. The products were produced by the students and lecturers of UMI. All the products have been displayed at Innovation & Business Management Incubation Unit.
This official visit begins with a presentation of the students and lecturers’ products such as Maceh and Carryfy Products, the work of UMI students and lecturers who have been announced as one of the best in the 2020 Startup competition.
In her speech, Victoria said, start-ups presented by the younger generation must be strengthened with collaboration among business actors. Consolidation to raise the brand has to be done massively.
“These young people should first enter the supply chain, after the industry is strong, then we will enter the market. If we go straight to the market, we will vanish, we have to develop a good cooperation strategy by taking university as the center of it”.
Victoria also greatly appreciated the tenants under the assistance of UMI when making a direct visit to the Office of Innovation & Business Incubation Unit on the 4th Floor of the UMI Tower and the Assalam Gallery at the campus II of UMI.
“This creativity should be supported by all parties, especially the government, in preparing more space to encourage better management,” he said.
Meanwhile, UMI Deputy Rector for Promotion and Cooperation Prof. DR. Ir. H.M Hattah Fattah explained that this visit has been targeted to build a strong cooperation in the form of support from the Ministry of Cooperatives and UKM RI to encourage businesses at UMI.
“The visit is a very valuable thing in support of the economic revival. This will strengthen various sectors, especially for higher education as a leading center for operational development studies” said Prof. Hattah Fattah.
Furthermore Prof. Hattah explained the importance of encouraging students to develop small scale businesses.
“In the application process of Merdeka Belajar, Kampus Merdeka (Freedom in Learning and Independent Campus), the university has been working on supporting its students to start and develop small scale businesses before their graduation.” Prof. Hatta stressed.
